I was watching the show “What Would You Do?” on ABC (I think), and they had two scenarios: a white kid stealing a bike, and a black kid, dressed the same way, stealing a bike. 100 people passed by the white kid before anyone called for help or 911. People called 911 in 30 seconds on the black kid.

According to Richard Dawkin’s book “The God Delusion,” 92-94% of people would vote for a black, Jew, woman, or Roman Catholic. 79% would vote for a Mormon or Homosexual, and 49% would vote for an Atheist. Now, I can see conservative arguments against an Atheist or Homosexual, albeit ridiculous in my opinion, but Mormon? Really? 21%, or 63 million people, wouldn’t vote for someone based on their religion?

As of 2007, 17% of people in America disapprove of interracial marriage. However, according to those born after 1977, only 8% disapprove of interracial marriage.

Most shocking of all was a test that the website at the bottom conducted. They had white and black people call into the same jobs, with the same credentials, but both indicate they had a criminal record. White people got a call back THREE TIMES as often as blacks.. really?

So what do you think? The rates of religious, racial, and sexual intolerance have obviously slowly dropped since this country was born. But, will we ever see a day when, in a poll like that, all of the numbers are 100%?
Cal: I originally intended to put world, but I decided to make it specific to America, as the statistics I gathered were for America. It is obviously an even bigger problem in the Balkan Peninsula and parts of Africa and Asia. However, I am just wondering if our (America’s) ignorance will ever disappear so we can actually focus on those places, not who’s marrying who
Eva: I’ve read a lot of Mormon scriptures, and I’ve never seen anything like that. But any Mormon who believed that probably wouldn’t be elected anyway. The fact is that we are still discriminating against religions. I bet the number for people who would vote for a Muslim would be horrendous. And anybody who’s well informed on the Qur’an knows it doesn’t say “DEATH TO INFIDELS” on the cover.

America? Why is it always America this, America that

America isn’t the world dude, RACISM is a worldwide disease not an American one, as long as their is ignorance then there will be racism.

Until everyone mixes until we are all mocha colored, there will still be racism, because of religion.

and Intolerance because of politics, it’s neverending

Maybe in the year 5000 when everyone is an atheist and there is no other race besides one mocha coloured weird lookin person, then we might have a shot But until then? Maybe even then it won’t be finished, intolerance is like a human being it can reproduce, and the onyl way to kill it off is to kill off the human species. Just try and get used to it, and preach the good word.
